When we were approached by Glenn, an event planner to produce a wedding guestbook, the brief was; create a book that reminded people of the penny drop games. Here at My Guestbook we like a challenge and thankfully, so does our wonderful carpenter and frame maker!
We began with gathering up some cool wooden hearts in different sizes. Glenn & Anna had designed a gorgeous logo for their wedding, so this was to go on the back of the hearts. Incidentally, this same logo was used on the bubbles given out to the guests on the rooftop of the fabulous refurbished Lopdell House in Titirangi. The bride and groom had their ceremony there with the Waitakere ranges providing a stunning backdrop.
The reception for the wedding took place at the iconic French Bay Yacht Club bringing with it a sense of nostalgia for the groom whose family grew up in this beautiful part of West Auckland. What a truly unique wedding venue which brings with it rustic charm and a sense of classic Kiwiana.
Our wedding guestbook fitted perfectly into the room which the couple had decorated themselves. Once an event planner, always an event planner! And, it showed, the attention to detail was magnificent. Not just content to put the frame for the hearts onto a wall, an old rustic door from Vintage & Style provided a boho backdrop for this quaint wedding guestbook.
Not only were the guests delighted to discover the wedding place settings, but were equally delighted to interact with the guestbook in a unique and playful way. It was wonderful watching the wedding guestbook fill up during the evening as people enjoyed writing out a special message then 'posting' it into the frame through a specially made slot. The result was an art piece itself!
The finished wedding guestbook was on show at the recent bride and groom show at the Ellerslie showgrounds in Auckland, where it received rave reviews and as a consequence, lots of ideas and brought with it, yes, you've guessed it......a new set of challenges!
