Our Pohutukawa Fingerprint Wedding Guestbook is a beautiful alternative to a traditional guestbook. Guests add their fingerprint as a leaf on the tree and sign their name beside it, creating a unique piece of artwork filled with the fingerprints of family and friends.

A New Zealand Inspired Wedding Guestbook
The idea for our Pōhutukawa Fingerprint Tree came from my love of the gorgeous pōhutukawa trees at Cornwallis Beach, not far from our studio in the Waitākere Ranges.
Often called New Zealand's Christmas tree, the pōhutukawa is one of our most recognisable native trees and a wonderful symbol of summer celebrations, family gatherings and special occasions.
I love seeing this design paired with red ink pads to recreate the vibrant crimson flowers the pōhutukawa is known and loved for.

Within 24 hours of placing your order, I'll email you a personalised design proof showing your names, date and chosen wording.
If you'd like to try different fonts or make changes, that's absolutely fine. I'll work with you until everything looks just right.

Each Fingerprint Tree is printed on ultra-premium 300gsm cotton paper with a beautiful matte texture and exceptional durability.
The paper is acid and lignin free, making it suitable for long-term archival storage and display. It has been carefully chosen for its ability to capture crisp fingerprints, vibrant ink colours, and handwritten messages without bleeding.
Unlike standard poster paper, this heavyweight fine art paper is designed to last, creating a keepsake that can be enjoyed for years to come.
Choose your Fingerprint Tree size based on the number of guests attending your celebration:
Small (A4)
Ideal for smaller gatherings of up to 50 guests.
Medium (A3)
Our most popular size, suitable for approximately 50–120 guests.
Large (A2)
Perfect for larger celebrations with around 120–200 guests.
If you're unsure which size to choose, it's usually better to allow a little extra space. Guests often add signatures and fingerprints of different sizes, and a slightly larger tree creates a more balanced finished keepsake.

Once your design proof has been approved, your order will usually be printed and dispatched within 2–3 business days.

Does the Fingerprint Tree come with a frame?
No, your Fingerprint Tree arrives unframed. I deliberately design all of our fingerprint guestbooks to fit standard, off-the-shelf frame sizes, making them easy and affordable to frame after your celebration. If you're based in Auckland, I'm also happy to recommend our preferred local framer.
Will the ink stain my guests' hands or clothes?
Not at all. We supply premium water-based, non-toxic ink pads that are designed for fingerprint guestbooks. The ink dries quickly on the paper and can be easily removed from fingers with a baby wipe or damp cloth. I always recommend placing a packet of wet wipes on the guestbook table for convenience.
What happens if a guest smudges their fingerprint or makes a mistake?
Don't panic. Fingerprint Trees are designed to look organic and natural, and once the artwork fills with fingerprints and signatures, small smudges, overlaps, or lighter prints tend to disappear into the overall design. We also include a practice test sheet so guests can try it out before adding their print to the artwork.
Will the fingerprints or signatures fade over time?
No. We use premium archival paper together with fade-resistant ink pads and pens, creating a keepsake designed to last for many years. For best results, we recommend framing your Fingerprint Tree under glass and displaying it away from prolonged direct sunlight.
Should guests sign their names before or after adding their fingerprint?
I recommend adding the fingerprint first and then signing the name beside it.
By the time guests have used a wet wipe to clean their finger, the fingerprint is usually dry enough to write on or alongside without any issues. After supplying fingerprint guestbooks for many years, I've found this is the easiest and most natural process for guests to follow.
What if I don't know my final guest numbers yet?
That's completely normal. Most couples don't have an exact guest count when they order.
As a general guide, choose the size closest to your expected attendance and allow a little extra room. Guests leave fingerprints of different sizes. If you're unsure which size will work best for your celebration, feel free to get in touch and I'm happy to help.
How is my Fingerprint Tree packaged and shipped?
Your Fingerprint Tree is carefully packaged and shipped flat in a protective box.
Some companies roll fingerprint guestbooks into mailing tubes to reduce shipping costs, but this can leave you with the job of flattening the artwork before framing. I prefer to ship all Fingerprint Trees flat so they arrive ready to use and ready to frame after your celebration.
My wedding isn't until next year. Is it too early to order?
Not at all. Many of my customers order their Fingerprint Tree months before their wedding so they can get one more thing organised.
The ink pads are supplied sealed and have a long shelf life, so there's no need to wait until the last minute. Simply store everything somewhere cool and dry, and you'll be ready to go when the big day arrives.
